Serving the
Children
of the World
TM

A child’s potential is limitless, but it needs to be nurtured. Since 1915, Kiwanis International has provided the framework to bring volunteers and children together, with thousands of hours given each year working one-on-one with children all over the world. Teaching them to read. Involving them in service projects. Showing them how to build stronger communities. Grassroots involvement on every continent. Because every child has the potential to shine.

The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis International were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924 Convention in Denver, Colorado. Through the succeeding decades, they have remained unchanged.
  1. To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
  2. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
  3. To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.
  4. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
  5. To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.

To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Guided by six permanent Objects, Kiwanis clubs view their role within their respective communities with a great deal of foresight. Key aspects to operating an effective club include:

  • Evaluating both children’s issues and community needs on an ongoing basis
  • Conducting service projects to respond to those identified needs
  • Maintaining an active membership roster of professional business people who have both the desire and the ability to serve their community.

Friends,

Welcome to the all-new Kiwanis Club of Joliet website. This website will provide everything on information from who we are to what Kiwanis is and how you can become a member. I urge you to visit our club. We meet on Mondays at noon at the Joliet Junior College Renaissance Center at 214 N. Ottawa Street in downtown Joliet.

The Kiwanis Club of Joliet exists to further Kiwanis International’s goal of serving the children in the world. We are neighbors and business professionals who come together to help reach our collective goal of making life better for the children of Joliet and Will County . All you need is a desire to come to our meetings over lunch on Mondays at noon.

There is no specific time commitment outside of our weekly meetings. Please come as often or as little as your schedule permits. Club service projects are usually scheduled during the more convenient weekend hours.

Please feel free to check out the information on our website. The “Officers/Members” section has a listing of our current members with up-to-date email addresses. Please feel free to contact a Kiwanian and ask them about their involvement in Kiwanis. They will be happy to fill you in on their experiences.

I wish you all the best as you refer to our website to learn more about our club. Please join us for a meeting at the Renaissance Center on Mondays at noon. I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Betty Lorch President, Kiwanis Club of Joliet
